Do you love great kids photos? I must admit I really enjoy taking pics of young kids as they grow.
Well here’s a new blog to keep an eye on. Nils has launched her blog for Fig Tree Photography this weekend. She’s a young mum with an almost 1 year old bub. And she has a fabulous eye for a photo. Launched her business in North Perth.
Can’t believe how well she is doing. But as I said,… she has a natural eye for a creative pic. Go check out Nil’s blog and link to the rss feature to keep an eye out for some great developments.
Here’s a pic I took of her and bub about 9 months ago – must put up some of her and hubby that I took about 4 or 5 weeks ago. They are a fabulous couple.

Couple of Saturdays ago I shot a Pre-Wedding shoot. That day we had a little 1 year old along with the cute name of Secoyah. Now she has got a great personality shining through. She took in everything and I even think she knew what was happening with the cameras and photography! Fascinating sense of humour too. Such placid little angel. So tonight we have a collage and a couple of others.
Check out the bottom lip – she is going to have one fabulous pout. You can bet that will come in handy in about 12 years time … or before.
Ok and here’s a collage with her practicing walking with Dad.

I gotta tell you. And it might come as a surprise to some. But 5 kids and 14 grandkids have just got to start somewhere. Don’t go looking under rocks or cabbage patches. No point blaming someone else. The Harold Holt government of 41 years ago wasn’t the cause. It was these two.
And I’ve got to tell you they were really keen to help ensure the long photoshoot ran smoothly. Why? Because they love their kids & Grandkids and they know what memories are made of. Great isn’t it!

During her family photoshoot I got really close for this and told her not to smile. Then tonight after putting the families proofs up on their gallery I decided to work on this,… cooling down the temperature and pushing out the skin tones to a very pale. Then put some brushes to work for the foliage and dandelions etc. Just enough to get the imagination flowing.
I’ve been working at this for a few months now. Whether it looks great or not depends very much on how creative the brain is when I start. I reckon I maybe should ask the child herself to let her mind imagine things in the park. Then I could add that sort of brushwork to the pic as she has seen it.
Nonetheless it is all in the eye of the beholder. Will her mum like it???? Who knows at this stage. I’ll find out eventually. Hope she does. I think it would look great as a 16x24inch canvas on her bedroom wall.

Ok let’s be upfront,… I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. But we live in an era when it is not as common as once to have larger families. Once upon a time there was a terminology that talked about having a quiver full. Often wondered how many makes up a full quiver?
But hat’s off to this family – they all seem to get on really great. Certainly they all connected fabulously during the photos. Well I suppose you would when you have 14 kids between them,… and probably still going. Thing is the grandparent’s were extremely popular with the grandchildren. Now that does say something. Relational. That’s what it is. Gotta have it.
Be that as it may, this extended family shoot has been fascinating to process up. Tonight I took a bit of a break and did up two pics – the guys and the girls. In a day or so I’ll do them with their respective partners.

Some years just seem to fade into the rear vision mirror and yet others remain vibrant and alive in the memory bank for eons. Theres a multitude of good and bad reasons for that. For me 2007 will remain as one of new beginnings. And 2008? Don’t we always look forward to the freshness that a new year seems to bring. I wish you well for this New Year ahead and hope that will be blessed with fabulous lifelong memories by the time it ends.
Today’s pic was taken on Saturday 29th of December. Huge 26 strong extended family shoot over 5 hours and untold photos taken. This little guy was a bit tired at this point but fluctuated with laughter and tears. He plonked himself down on the grass and just looked around at all that was going on. He wasn’t looking a me, but way past the camera.
He probably won’t remember anything of 2008 – it’s only his second year. But through it he will laugh and cry and be happy and be sad. But often he will do what he did when I took this pic – just look and take in all that is. And it will create an imagining that children do so well. May I should hope that each of us take the time to do exactly that in 2008 also.
Do you see what I see

Someone once said, … before me that is,… life is a journey; sometimes the pathway is paved in gold and sometimes a herd of cattle has been there before we travel over it. Someone else said that… life is not a sprint,… it’s a marathon. So I suppose in the end it’s not really what we do in random moments but rather what we leave on the pathway for those that follow us.
When I was preparing this photo I thought for a moment or two about Frank’s progeny. Many years separate them. They will ultimately travel their own journeys. But Frank has, and is still, sowing into their lives. His legacy is not really what he does or how much money he makes but rather has he prepared them for their own life journey? I reckon he must have done something right – both seemed pretty well balanced and relational to me. And they certainly relaxed as we took these formal pics in the surrounds of Kings Park.
Want somewhere to go with your family and relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the Aussie bush in the midst of the bustling city? Maybe a picnic one summers evening. Go to Kings Park. And if you take me along with you I can take some fabulous relaxed photos at the same time. Give me call – contact details on the ABOUT page top right.

All too often we take photos of everything around us but we neglect the people in our own family. And when we finally get around to it, we are always amazed at how much the youngest have changed. Truly we live in a fast paced era where the weeks and months flash by our eyes.
Few days ago the ‘expectant’ couple pictured several weeks ago have finally welcomed a new bub into the world. He’s a healthy baby boy and mum’s doing well!. Hope to take a few photos tomorrow. I just know they will be one set of amazing parents.
Had a fabulous family shoot week ago. I loved hearing mum and dad’s reaction to the pics – especially of the kids. Well you are going to love these. A couple of samples of what’s to come – mum and daughter – with a few more real soon.
This little angel has the sweetest singing voice for such a young lady. And a fabulous attitude too.

A baby is soon to make his/her entrance into this wonderful world. Of course once bub lets those lungs loose it will be like a trumpet announcing that two cute doggies are about to have their habits retrained a tad. No longer will they hold centre stage. But that’s the way of life when a child is born. Babies are absolutely dependent and require quite a bit of attention. It’s all good.
But just for now a pic of Karen with her current babies giving a bit of doggie love to her!!!
