Kristy & Joe

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 27, 2008

El Caballo Resort just out of Perth is the home to the majestic Andalusian dancing horses and some fabulous Spanish-style buildings.  It was also the choice for Kristy & Joe to have their wedding reception.

These two photos of our beautiful bride just before leaving for the Wedding Ceremony at the Mundaring Uniting Church are a couple of precursors for some blogging of that fabulous event.  Proofing is almost complete for them so I’ll put up a photoshow of their wedding before this year is out.  Check back by New Years Eve and it should be here.

Andrea & Joels Wedding – The Guys in Action

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 27, 2008

Well I’m still playing around with Animoto photoshows.  It’ll take me a bit of experimentation to get it right.  Also I’ve noticed that the links to the shows do slow down the process of the loading the blog.  Therefore, in a real time test, I’ve put it under the read more button

First another pic of  Joel and then the show

Felicity & Brant – a second Animoto photoshow

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 23, 2008

So after my last post with a 30 second freebie I have signed up with Animoto for 3 months to see if it is a real goer for my part time photography business.
Tonight I grabbed about 60+ random photos from Felicity and Brant’s wedding and uploaded them into Animoto.com and selected some music.  That didn’t take long.  Then I hit the Make Video button and off it went for about 15 or 20 minutes and voila – a new vid ready to download.  It was that simple. Writing this post took me longer,…. no kidding!

[clearspring_widget title=”Animoto.com” wid=”4805fc0db4a3562c” pid=”4950e5b4e9a1807b” width=”432″ height=”260″ domain=”widgets.clearspring.com”]

Now I know a bit of practice will go a long way to getting it all right but I reckon for a first go this is not too shabby.

So why not put in a bit of practice before showing it to the world.  Because I have had heaps of people interested in seeing what the level of difficulty is.  I don’t even know if it will run easily on peoples PC’s.  So if you have a look at this,… feel free to drop a comment on whether your computer could handle it.  My computer is pretty fast so it should be ok but what about a computer 2 or 3 years old????  Let me know.

And comment on what you think of the Animoto video movements and display – it’s done all automatically.

Ok so have a fabulous Christmas and enjoy heaps of food and lots of memories and hopefully even new friends.

A Felicity & Brant Photoshow Teaser using Animoto.

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 18, 2008

Found a new toy and decided to give it a try.  So grabbed a few pics,… too many in fact and only about 1/3 got used.  But we live and learn.
Love what Animoto does with the pics.  Drop some feedback and tell me what you think of this little concept.  It’s a 30 second video that’s done online.  My usual photoshows are anything from “quick” 3 minute ones to feature length 15 minute versions.

Joel’s Wedding [oh and Andrea was there too !]

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 18, 2008

That title reflects simply that I am only posting the guys today.  Nothing sexist about it all.  My job last week was second shooter with Chris Brown of Small Package Films and therefore I covered Joel and his three groomsmen.

Wedding and reception was held at the Vines Resort and Country Club.  What a great venue it was too.  HOT BRIGHT SUNNY DAY,… and an outside wedding.  That’s part of the great Australian Summer.  Still the photos were great.  And the guys got into the mood of the day.  And the Bridesmaids were beautiful. And the Flower Maids were awesome – and giggly.  As for Andrea, the Bride, she was just beautiful.  I loved the way she handled the day.  She really looked as if she was having a fabulous time.  I left with the impression that the whole wedding party were really enjoying a memorable day together.

So the photos,… 4 of them today.

Photobooth at Belinda & Glenn’s Wedding

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 14, 2008

Lot of people haven’t come across photobooths.  Really they aren’t a new idea – rather a “re-imaged” concept for weddings where the guests get to express some of the personality that attracted them to the bride and groom in the first place.  What prompted to give them a go was when I saw the San Diego wedding photographers  Nate & Jaclyn blogging their Crazy Booth – which about sums it up.  Heaps of fun and the wedding couple get great pics of their friends.

So here’s a few sample pics of one of my photobooth shoots.  I used to take a white backdrop but that became a bit of a pain due to space at some of the reception venues.  So now I just try to use what is there and make the best of it.  Mostly I simply drop them into a sepia tone, or in this case and older 70’s style rendition.

Belinda & Glenn

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 12, 2008

Before the Second Take shoot blogged last week was the wedding.  I tell you Joondalup Country Club Resort is well set up for weddings – suppose they should be as they do hundreds each year.  Staff were fabulous – extremely helpful.  Turned out one of the reception waiters was the son of a friend.

Mind you taking the photos can be a challenge – it’s a golf course also and the players are not always skilled.  So when we used a sand bunker for some shots we were really hoping that the hacks were already on the 19th green.

Right from the beginning Belinda was so into the idea of photos.  She was up for anything. So here’s a few random selections and a couple of detail shots.  Tomorrow a selection of the photobooth we took during the reception.

During this wedding I had Nils from Fig Tree Photography shooting. No pics on her blog but I must do a post with some of hers.   She is soooooo creative.  Has a great eye, a fabulous personality, and is going to be well known around Perth before long.

Page Boy Makes off with Shoes

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 12, 2008

You have just gotta laugh.

So this wedding was outside on the lush and very soft lawns of Joondalup Country Club Resort.  Surrounded by bush.  My erstwile assistant – who doubles for my daughter – was sinking into the turf with high heels.  She takes them off during the ceremony and grabs a camera for a few shots.

Suddenly, out the corner of her eye she notices a wandering little page boy.  He picks up the shoes, thinks about it, and tears off as fast as his little legs can take him.  He’s off to daddy to show his trophies – Mummy was the Maid of Honour.  Clearly he thought that with Christmas around the corner here was a way to get into mum’s good books!!!!!

Post-Honeymoon Shoot

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 8, 2008

Had the privilege of shooting wedding photos for Belinda and Glenn around a month ago.  [Will post some pics of that fabulous event soon].  After their honeymoon I suggested they come down the beach for a Post-honeymoon Shoot amongst the grasses of the sanddunes and walking along the waters edge.

Come the day it was a bit windy with rolling clouds but not really expected to drop much water.  Yeah right!  In the middle of the shoot the heavens suddenly burst open and down it bucketed for about 2 minutes.  So we had the couple laying in the sand dune with a towel to cover them – not sure if it was much help.  And my assistants and gear and myself were under a small blanket.  Gear was fine but we all got a bit of a wash.  It passed though and we kept on shooting.  At least we were no longer getting sandblasted by the galeforce seabreeze 🙂

A few shots from the shoot.

Where Have All The Blog Posts Gone,….

Posted by akessonphotography on 1, December 6, 2008

For more than 2 years I blogged 2 or 3 times per week.  Then through the months of October and November it all stopped.  Not deliberately.  Just got hugely busy between post processing, a couple of weddings, framing photos – that is one task I am about to totally outsource [takes me far too long as I am doing it all manually], and second shooting for Chris Brown of Small Package Photography.  Really enjoying the second shooting; fabulous experience – but that’s a story in itself for the future.

Anyway, now I have a massive amount to blog about.  Not going to catch up overnight,… nor in a couple of weeks.  Some fabulous shoots to show – Joondalup Resort, El Caballo Blanco, Sandalford Winery.

But tonight no pic – now that’s a first,… a photography blog with no photography.  Come back tomorrow and I will have some pics starting to roll through.  And between now and the end of 2008 I shall endeavour to blog 3 or 4 times per week.

And hopefully as we move toward Christmas I can inspire you to get our your camera and make more memorable photos.
