Editing Photos and Watching Footy

So while the big Geelong Vs Hawthorn footy match was on today  [See my earlier post]  I spent time watching the game while editing photos.  Editing was slow because the game was so riveting.

Eventually I stopped editing and grabbed 3 pics from last weeks Romance Shoot with Kristy and Joe.  These were in front of a fabulous display of native everlasting flowers in Kings Park.  Flowers looked awesome but I wanted to put the pics into timeless old chocolate sepia toning.  Here’s the result.

Grand Final – Australian Football League

For all you expat Aussies who regularly drop in on this blog today was the BIG one at the MCG – with just over 100,000 there to see the hot favourites and last years premiers GEELONG take on the second best team for this year HAWTHORN. The game was as tough as you get.

Well I can say it was one of the fabulous grand finals.  And Hawthorn took the honours – winning by 26 points.  My team, sadly, was not among the contestants.  So I was sort of neutral, except that the Hawks Shane Crawford, after 305 games over 17 years had never played in a grand final.  So I sort of had a leaning toward them,… though I wasn’t overly passionate other than absolutely loving the game.  You can see all the info and action at AFL.com.au

One for the “ride”

Was verrrrry late when I put up the last post.  This morning I realised I had one more I wanted up from the pine trees area for now. There will be more in the gallery to come.

That location looks fabulous with heaps of potential for pics.  We were tight for time Saturday – had a few different places to take them.  So we had to move once the clock ticked around.  But there are some fabulous parts of massive logs that used to be part of an absolute ginormous kids playground 20 years ago.  Got to go back soon.

Pre-Wedding Romance Shoots

Part of the initial deal I have for photographing a wedding is the offer of a pre-wedding Romance Shoot. Currently it’s not costed into the wedding and I don’t hide it by raising other parts of the price list.  Not saying that it’s always going to be free,… but that is the way it is now.

Why?

Because if I don’t know the couple and the couple don’t know me from a bar of soap then this is a fabulous way for us to build a healthy working relationship and a friendship.  After all, I am going to be spending more time with the wedding party than anyone else.  So if a fabulous, enjoyable and fun time is going to be had by all then it’s best we get familiar early.  It’s that simple.

Yesterday we had a romance shoot with Joe and Kristy.  They’re a great pair.  Really got into the idea of a casual photo shoot. Didn’t take them long to relax and get up close and personal .

Went up to the pine trees in Kings Park to start with – long grass and mosquitoes – not too many biting thankfully.  Then onto King Street in the heart of Perth and Shafto Lane.  Great places for urbane shooting.  More on them next post.

For now a couple of shots from the first 15 minutes of the shoot yesterday.  It’s quite normal for a couple to be just a bit hesitant and nervous as they get a feel of the sort of things that I would be asking of them.  So if I get pics like these of Kristy and Joe right early in a shoot then I reckon some absolutely fabulous shots will come when the wedding location shoot starts up at the revamped El Caballo Blanco resort where the amazing Andalusian horses have returned after many years. But you will have to wait til November for that.

Wedding Reception Photobooth
