Question: “When does motherhood commence?” I mean, does a woman move into motherhood in the midst of giving birth?… or does motherhood begin when she intentionally begins preparing for it? Just a thought that I drifted into while preparing these photos.
What we have today is 3 pics of a great woman who is slowly, yet intentionally, moving from the realm of scientific exactness into the world of being a mother … and all that which is somewhat less than exact and ordered and controlled. Nonetheless I tried to capture the picture of a person who has been mentally and emotionally preparing herself (an hubby too) for the arrival of a bub. She’s definitely in the status of a “lady in waiting. Around 7 or 8 weeks to go. She will be a great mother. Her bub is in safe hands.

Been working on adding to photographs an effect that takes the background and presenting a look of a soft watercolour behind the main subject. Not sure how easy it will be to see the effect online in the blog but I’ll give it a go. Let me tell you, though, that when it’s viewed full screen in the original Adobe RGB it looks quite spectacular and I thing printed on canvas it will be fabulous.
The pic is my pick of all the photos I took of my sister Shirley and her hubby Dennis. And yes they had lovely smiles in the other ones I took but for what I wanted this is the one.

Must admit, as I look at it now, I’ll have to do the effect somewhat stronger if I am to put it up on the blog. The large [and higher resolution] versions show it the impact of the effect much more pronounced.

Isn’t it so typical. I take thousands upon thousands of photographs every year and yet it’s taken us about a month to get to taking just a few photos of Heather and myself. I needed to send one off and realised our most recent rendition was nearly three years ago.
So here’s a pic of me and my life partner and wife, Heather. Taken out the back in some great lighting yesterday by one of my daughters (see I didn’t get to take this one.) You’ll see a sepia rendition of it in the Page About Akesson Photography and Contact Details near top right of the blog.

Now don’t expect too many more of us this year. Heather is much more at ease assisting the process from the other side of the scene.

Ok last point mentioned in last post was that Cherry was speaking this weekend somewhere south of Perth. Well I was wrong - it’s next Sunday and it’s just out of town a bit…. CCC Rockingham to be exact. On the link there’s even a location map. They’ve got a great facility and are down right friendly. So with Cherry the morning communicator you can’t go wrong. You’ll know you’re in the place when you see her get up to speak!
Here’s a couple more pics to help you recognise her.

Now this is a bit long,… but there is a pic at the end.
Probably just as well I don’t base my life around sport any more. Poor Eagles lost to Collingwood last week. One of our favourite stars pulled a huge hammy and would not have played for ages even if we won. Then the best player in the competition says,… “I want my mummy!… I want to go back to Victoria!” And he’s (Chris Judd) now out of contract and already gone to find a Melbourne team. Read about that one HERE.
So we give up on the footy and say, “Hey, the cricket’s on in South Africa!” Great. Turn our attention there and Captain Rick (he’s got a new hairdo and doesn’t want Ricky anymore) Ponting pulls a hammy. So too does one of our bowlers - even worse. Oh well it was only the 20 over hit and giggle series.
And tonight the Geelong Cats (raging favourites all year) kill of the Magpies [Collingwood]. You can read about that here. …… but wait. The Aussie Matilda’s are kicking goals in the soccer championships. Eeeeeeeeeeeh! Let’s watch the girls play sport.
Oh Dear. What’s life got to offer for an Eagles support who is so used to having their team give us a spark in life.
It’s enough to drive one to drink, isn’t it! Check out Matilda Bay’s Redback. Especially the Beez Neez drop.
Ok I can’t put a post up just with a lament over missing out on the Grand Final. After all there is light at the end of the tunnel and we’ll get half a team of champions in the making when we flog off Judd.
So here’s the pic of the day.
Last Sunday I took some promo shots of a little old grandmother who’s almost in a zimmerframe. Well maybe the zimmerframe is a bit far fetched ….. an maybe she ain’t all that old either ….. but I did take some promo shots.
And here’s one for now. Maybe a few more tomorrow. Cherry is a fabulous communicator. In fact she’s brilliant. Sometimes think she’s a bit underrated. Thing is about her is that she has heaps to offer that is worth listening to. She has passion. Shehas a fabulous testimony of faith in a God who walks with us through a life journey and all the garbage that we encounter along the way. And she’s been hit by enough of that for 3 lives. And still her faith is unwavering. She’s got something that is worth sitting down and listening to.

Ahhhh… don’t have the info where she’s speaking this Sunday but come back tomorrow and I will have it up for you if you’re in the area. Here’s the pic and goodnight for now.

Well it’s Footy Finals time and our team in the West is the current reigning premiers. Tomorrow night the West Coast Eagles play Collingwood over here on our home ground,… and despite having half the team on crutches and the other half in wheelchairs I reckon we’ll win this one.
And what do young guys do at finals time? Play footy of course. Beach footy is great because when someone gets knocked flying the sand provides a soft landing. And the beach is a fabulous leveler where the little ones can come up trumps. That’s what happened here.

What you can’t see in the sepia is that the footy was in the West Coast colours. So guess what team Dad must barrack for
Go Eagles!!! Check out this link for the Eagles official website.

Funny how you get into a routine in life and around the home. And when something takes place to disturb that pattern everything that has been virtually automatic and even taken for granted goes out the window. Sometimes it even gets chaotic.
Well Heather went to Victoria for 8 days - to be at her nephew’s wedding and catch up on family and friends. She had a great time and somehow I survived. Couldn’t wait for her to come back actually. She took a few pics at the wedding with our little 3mp Nikon point and shoot. It’s doesn’t do a bad job for the size it is. Here’s two that caught my eye - of Andrew and his wonderful new bride enjoying the aftermath of making their commitment to one another.

Just a couple more of “The Man and his Sons” here. The proofs will be up on my gallery later in the weekend. I must admit, though, we did have a lot of fun taking these.
OK - you would have to be blind not to believe that this first is a photo sure to bring a showering of presents from grandparents and the like.

The second is the colour version of the “ye olde style” palatino rendition posted earlier.

And I am amazed that the youngest kept up with his older brothers.

Couple more pics from last Saturday. This young guy loved being down in the rocks - even though they were verrrrry slippery and the waves pushed water almost to his feet! (you wouldn’t believe that all this area is totally under beach sand during the summer - it’s amazing) And then, of course, we took some of dad and his boys. I loved this one - they were all relaxed and totally willing to ham it up for the camera.
Mum’s been away since we took these so she gets to enjoy the pics of her gaggle of great guys now.

Here in West Australia during the summer the beach is not the best place to take young children. You’ll roast them in 5 minutes. But late winter to early spring it is fabulous. We went to a little cove expecting a lot of great sand…. no way. Apparently the wave and tidal movement takes it away in winter and brings that sand back come late spring. So there were limestone rocks all over the place that I never knew existed.
But
…
Got some great shots because 9 year olds and 7 year olds and 4 year olds are full of enthusiasm and can climb where angels fear to tread! Even got some great sun-flare results [eg the second one]. Then after that we went a couple of kilometers further south to a great long wide beach at Trigg Island.
So here’s 3 shots of the guys. Couple more tomorrow then late on the weekend all the proofs will go up on the gallery.
