Cannot remember the last time my wife of over 20 years was happy to have me take her photograph. For years she assisted me in all sorts of ways when we took pics of others - but when the camera was pointed at her it was a different matter.
So today we headed for Monzo [one of the great coffee houses in Leederville (in Perth)] with money for coffee, a book for a prop [the photo was for another reason but what the heck ... I got to take one of her], camera for photos and even a reflector to fill in the dark side. Made my day. And she got her coffee too.

I like the idea of taking some photos further than what we historically do with them. So have been educating my eye and skills using textures to create different viewpoint. Still developing my thoughts. Here’s a couple of results from this week. Some people like them - others don’t. Must put one on canvas sometime and see how it comes up.

that’s called the things we do for …..hmmmm. What was the rest of the title
sung by 10CC. Whatever!
Today’s pics are solely the man besotted. Look, he was an absolute great sport when we took these. As you will see there was HUGE smile permanently etched upon his face.
The last collage is for Ang and the Canadian parents of Adam - it’s a tad big but what the heck. It fits.

ok we’ve had the serious side of this busy little lady - carting that humungous flower back and forth through the garden.
Now look what happens when the bubbles come out. We had her mum and my enthusiastic assistant blowing bubbles in the air and look what happens when the joy of discovery hits her. Absolute delight.

It never ceases to amaze me just how quickly little babies grow. This beautiful angel just started standing up recently. Now she’s toddling around everywhere, doing the odd dance, and playing games of fetch with mum. Fascinating to be reminded just how much they understand after 13 or 14 months. We have lots of stuffed toy animals - she knows the sounds each makes! Next thing there will be photo’s with boyfriends. Now that’s enough to age you quickly mum

So what do we have? Red corrugated iron, a garden, flowers and butterflys, and of course someone with a fascination for life. All of which was taken indoors on the carpet. The red corrugated iron is plastic (no damage to curious fingers). The big flower is real of course - just made out of material.

In fact 6 minutes after the sun set below the horizon we raced (as fast as she could walk really) to the looooong beach between Trigg and Scarborough. The light was awesome. Look at this result.

And that is me for the night. Goodnight from Perth.

After I edited the last post - and I really like the end result now - I pushed it a little and gave a chocolate sepia finish.
Now this is what I like.

Public holiday in West Australia - Celebration our state’s Foundation Day in 1829. We’re not called the land of the long weekend for nothing! What better way to end it than taking some pics down on our magnificent beaches just before sunset.
You get some fabulous lighting when taking photos late in the day - and today was really good. But right as the sun goes down the lighting is really really orange/red. Even better when you have terrific subjects. They were totally at ease in front of the camera (and with each other - they should be they’ve been married long enough). One pic only for now - it’s late, I’ve been into album creation tonight, but before going to bed couldn’t resist spending a few minutes on one.
EDITED: I didn’t like the first one so gave it the heave-ho - much less texture and softening on faces.

We found some fabulous walls on this shoot. And since Adam is now some 20,000 kilometres away - far closer to the North Pole than anyone should contemplate living, a picture of his hot lady back in Perth should warm his heart
