Let’s Face It…..

we see all these make-up ads with flawless airbrushed skin and looooooooooooonnnnnnng eyelashes and absolutely no age lines - is it any wonder that [a] no woman will leave home without a complete facial and makeup session; and [b] they won’t let a camera zoom in very close at all.  But you know, I put this pic up as an example of what a real everyday “woman next door”  looks like cropped tight.  Sure I’ve given the pic a bit of a sharpen, some localised exposure and colour correction, and a warming filter.  But then I do that to EVERY photograph.

Shot outdoors, no flash but with a big white reflector (you can see it) to fill in the shadows.  And no,… she doesn’t live next door.  But she is a fabulous person with a really natural smile.

Tiptoeing Across The Clouds

For the life of me I cannot understand why some people take so long to be swept off their feet. Maybe it’s because they’re too busy having fun tripping around the globe at the speed of light. Whatever the reason Angie and Adam were up for just about anything. They were just awesome. Made the photoshoot so much fun. We got some brilliant pics up in Kings Park - in between the rain showers - on Saturday. And a few fabulous sequences that we haven’t had a chance to process yet.

Anyway here’s a couple of favourites to whet the appetite. More on the gallery later in the week,… but you’ll need the password for that one. (if you know them well enough you’ll know her mum’s surname).

As you can see they’re sort of inseparable - bit like Richandamy of Zits fame - you have to read the newspaper comics to understand that one :-)

ARRRRRRRRRRR! We Be Pirates Then.

Of course what would a kids event be without the Pirates’ Captain. And we had our very own extremely frightening Captn Vlad. Captn Vlad even has his own mother trembling. So of course you can see the intense fear and trepidation on the young lady’s face - and that’s when the Captn only wanted to take her onto his leaky boat for a spin around the stars.

Til next time.

Kids SuperStar 2007

Well they ran the best yet and the talent for all those young kids from ages 4 to around 12 was amazing. Some of the musicians were brilliant for such a young age. Really talented. And a couple of the singers were simply fabulous. They allllll had lots of fun and thoroughly enjoyed George the Gorilla who appeared with a baby gorillaette called Georgina!!! (and by the way: the work the team put into staging this event is just phenomenal - a credit to their dedication and to their leaders)

But the winner this year has got the sweetest of voices and she is such an awesome young lady - all of around 10 years of age (might be 11 but whatever - so young to have such a great voice). So many photos - but a quick pick of 4 of Em singing her heart out is all I have time for tonight - it’s late and work calls tomorrow.

Kids SuperStar 2007

Tomorrow is the annual Kids Church SuperStar where all the young folk who have been practicing their various items come together to show what they can do. Always amazing how much enthusiasm and talent comes out of little ones so young. [it's our version of Australian Idol or Australia Has Talent]

Today the dedicated team of teachers and helpers were setting up the “lounge” in readiness. I was there to give some guidance as to the lighting. And of course to test it with a few shotsof those who were sort of standing still. REALLY pleased with the end result - not nearly as dark this year. So here’s a few pics of various folk - a Casey showing awesome modelling skills, along with balloon blowers, Coke-Zero sellers, and of course the obligatory youngster who wanders around just looking too cute. Some mothers do have them! (Steve was surely never that cute)

More tomorrow after the event.

Coke Is It!

Sorry Casey - no runway for the modelling skills

EmCee of This Is Your Life

Back in February our church had a Celebration to recognise our Senior Pastor’s 25years as a Pastor. Cherry took on the MC role - funny title that … named in an age when only men did it.  Maybe she was the Mother of Ceremonies.

Anyway she did it with dignity and humour - a fabulous job. People were thoroughly engaged all the way through.  And Cherry had trouble keeping a straight face during it.  BUT.  I found one. So thought I would post probably one of the few “austere” moments.  I just know she’ll “love it to bits”!!!

Ring-a-ring-a-rosie…

Been working on this photo for an album.  It was just a fun pic but wanted to present it differently.  Think it works - what do you reckon?

Sibling Fun

We all know that the kids in the family can fight “tooth and nail”, “like cats ‘n dogs”, and so on.  But just as often these episodes are simply the individuals asserting their individualism and growing independence.  Captured some of the other side with these two.  They get on really well together and it showed.

Sibling Love

And all that’s missing is the wings,…

Heart breaker in the making.
