After months, and sometimes even years, of relational development, emotive preparations, and often anxious times, the final grand arrival can be greeted with deep sighs of relief, nervous anticipation, giggles and laughter, butterflies in the stomach and tears in the eyes. Every participant goes through a number in the minutes before the wedding ceremony.

And after the game . . . . . . Some Things Never Change
Posted by akessonphotography on 1, March 21, 2007
Few months ago I was shooting down in Victoria Gardens (in East Perth) – one of my favourite places for taking people for their photos. Few guys had been kicking a footy – despite it being in between seasons. And when guys suddenly get macho and “fit” around the footy it doesn’t take long before they run out of steam. Then they need a good cold beer. So we said hello and took a few pics before moving on to shoot the people we went to photography. Who said footy isn’t a good place to meet different people.

old photographic techniques
Posted by akessonphotography on 1, March 18, 2007
Been dabbling a bit in reproducing some old style photo techniques. Have an action called “Platino” that does this job,… and then used some brushes to mess it up a bit around the edges. Funny isn’t it. 75 years ago people were producing photos like this with the best chemicals and equipment they had available. Nowdays we have everything at our fingertips and yet we go back and reinvent the wheel.
Well maybe it’s because it looks ok and has a touch of the artistic about it.
What do you reckon?

EVERYONE can have fun being photographed!
Posted by akessonphotography on 1, March 14, 2007
Friend of mine said I had been getting slack in posting on the blog lately;…. well I’ve been busy working on pics in the background. Nonetheless tonight it’s 8pm and I’m stuffed – too tired to pull up photoshop for anything serious. Consequently I get some overdue beauty sleep and between tomorrow and Sunday evening I’ll get heaps done because I won’t be so weary.
So. . . . it’s one pic. I just love this type of photo. Speaks volumes of the kind of people that they are – young parents who just happen to like each other a bit – or more. And full of energy & fun too [just as well as their youngster runs everywhere at a Zillion miles and hour]. They make a fabulous couple.
Now I know that some people are more open to expressing themselves in public than others. But I hold to the thought that if people just be themselves when having their photos taken, they can really enjoy it and the results are awesome. Just look at these two!!!
So if you want some really relaxed and fun photos taken that will remain treasured memories long after you get old and grey, then send me an email or ring me in Padbury on 0400 711 013. Take a long look at this blog. And you’ll see that the young folk I take photos of have lots of fun too.
I give you a money back guarantee that you will love the results.

Growing Families
Posted by akessonphotography on 1, March 11, 2007
Saturday. Sun just coming up and the coolness of early morning air hanging over the city. My wonderful wife wakes me with a coffee and reminds me of the planned family shoot in Kings Park. At that point I wondered why on earth I stayed up so late doing up preparing wedding album photos. Motor through breakfast and a quick 30 minute drive later arrive; Kings Park is huge – overlooking the fabulous city of Perth. As picturesque a setting that you could ever get.
Three different couples, two with children. Most likely they too wondering why so early. But once we settled down to the task at hand it was obvious. Amazing soft light. Incredible setting – almost idyllic – with the quiet of the morning punctuated constantly by the huge array of birdlife. And this only five minutes walk from the city centre. Two and a bit hours later it was coffee time. In between we took photos of the whole group, individual families and then photos of the kids.
The shots below are just a sample – be a couple of weeks before I get to proofing. Almost on top of my workload but still 4 shoots well overdue for completion that will be finished first.

My Sister’s Tribe
Posted by akessonphotography on 1, March 5, 2007
Tooks some photo’s last year for my sister and her offspring and the grandkids of course. She must be REALLY old to have grandkids – wouldn’t you think! Did a couple up today as I was putting more proofs up on the gallery for her. Actually she comes up really well. Got some fabulous photos of all the families. Made a special effort with the couples too as they often get overlooked in their quest for pics of their kids. I think they’ll be pleased with the results.
