Well it’s just a minute or so past midnight and Happy New Year to you as your eyes look over this post. Last few days I have contemplated on what made up the year 2006. It’s hasn’t been my favourite year. But today I guess I decided that it’s been, it’s now gone (maybe a little tooo fast), life lessons have presented themselves, opportunities have been both taken and missed. But I’m alive,… and so are my family, and I have the opportunity now to face 2007 positively and resolutely. It is going to be a very good year.
New Year’s Resolutions - nah! But I have set in place a draft business plan for the year 2007. I love taking photos of people. So part of that plan is to make sure I take an average of one shoot every week and have them posted within 5 days. Now that is going test workflow processes. But that’s what I’ve spent the last twelve months refining. Now’s the time to produce the goods and develop a great customer referral network. Hope you will see the growth through this blog.
Have just spent the last 20 or so minutes sending some emails and then decided to put up a couple more pics from last Wednesdays shoot. Couldn’t decide which one I preferred in the family shot (colour or a platino toning), so both go up - if you have a preference hit the comment button and tell me. But the first one is all about a tender-hearted mum soothing her ten month bub. She did great,… and we got some fabulous shots.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - May you be blessed and prosper through it.

Christmas are often be a time when families get together. Sometimes that’s a tad hard when 3 or 4 thousand kms separate people. Today took some great photos of a family in that situation - 4 siblings with 4 little grandies. They were great - got up real early to beat the 38 degree (celsius) heat and very patient as we tried to get around the bright Australian sunshine. [[ and no chance of a mugging in the park as 50 or so police academy cadets were out getting their morning exercise - kept the little kidlywinks amused]] All good stuff. Here’s one just to whet the appetite.

And one I couldn’t resist - Butterfly Wings and Little Angels

Wow! Two weeks since my last post. That is terrible. The longest I have ever been between posts. But I’ve been hard at it - with Christmas inbetween - and tonight have put up heaps of pics on the gallery for the concert. You will need the password. If you can’t remember then ring me for it - number is on the gallery - click here - or email me on akessonphoto@westnet.net.au. Rest will be up tomorrow after an extended family shoot. Really looking forward to this one. 14 people including at least 4 little ones. Hope you are enjoying Christmas.

This event is going to be huge. Can’t fully concentrate on the pics taken last Saturday - but last thing each night I am grabbing one photo at random,… a quick process and add a texture or so to go with the subject. Here’s my first effort with one of the tiny “preschool” dancers - they just loved their “tutu’s & butterfly facepaint”. They’ll bring tears to their mum’s eyes! The Concert is on Sunday afternoon (17th Dec). Pics will go up on my gallery next week.

Not many up so far this month - am working on clearing a backlog. But one from last Saturday. Fabulous day shooting a dress rehearsal of our School of Dance in full “war-paint”. One of the stars is the wicked Ice-Queen who has amazing talent. I’ll shoot some more when they perform live next Sunday afternoon. More pics once I proof them (check the proof gallery next week). For now just this one.

Late Saturday arvo I had a great shoot of a brother/sister combination. Their grandparents are absolute fabulous people - which is a good reason why a pair of teenagers were happy about sitting in front of a camera - well as much as most teens are. But they did great. Got a lot going for them those two. And I like the results. The family can see more on my gallery - but you’ll need to enter the password which is Grandma’s name. Drop a comment here and tell me what you think!

Today has been busy batch-processing a huge wedding album - getting ready for printing come Monday. Am working long and hard at getting completed all I can before the printers close for Christmas/New Year.
While that was happening I’ve discovered a storyboard I had created but not printed. Have been working on platinum toning (which seems to have a wide variety of finishes) and this is an example of it. Mind you when talking to clients I simply call it a “light-sepia”.
Finished product is somewhat wide so will go right across the screen - but I decided to show it anyway. Took the photos earlier in the year but hadn’t finished them. I’m framing the storyboard as an 8 x 20inch photo. See if you like it.
First a single shot… then the storyboard.
